Please note: there will be no meetings in May 22, 2018 & May 29th, 2018
Clear Mind offers a weekly peer-led group that integrates the wisdom of Buddhism and the 12 Steps to lay the foundation for sustained recovery. Whatever your addiction, you are welcome here. This group is not affiliated with Twelve Step fellowships, such as AA and NA and is not a Refuge Recovery Meeting.
We meet every Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at 76 W. Main St. Suite 302, Hyannis MA. Please note that there is no elevator.
What we do:
- Introductions & sitting meditation for 20 minutes.
- Reading & discussion. We are currently using One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps by Kevin Griffin
- 10 minute period of sitting meditation
The second noble truth of Buddhism reminds us that the cause of our suffering is our cravings (attachments, addictions, desires). Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk and teacher, explains that the energy from mindfulness meditation “allows us to look deeply at our body, feelings, perceptions, mental formations, and consciousness and see clearly what our real needs are, so we will not drown in the sea of suffering.”
